Fixing A Broken Heart
Unfortunately, the quick fix for a broken heart has yet to be invented. Current methods of best practice for fixing a broken heart involve allowing yourself time and putting in significant effort, in order to move on with your life.
After allowing yourself to experience the barrage of emotions that comes with a break up, it is time to move on and allow your heart to heal.
The first step is ridding yourself of all mementos of the relationship. Take anything that reminds you of your ex partner and your relationship and store it away where they cannot be seen. Remember, out of sight, out of mind, so storing these away will reduce the amount of time you spend thinking about the relationship in order to aid your heart in healing faster.
It is also best if you avoid seeing or contacting your ex partner by any means, as this only results in you feeling worse due to the intense pain of seeing someone you still care for, but not being able to be with them.
Take some time to talk with your friends about the way you are feeling. This will provide you with a supportive environment in which to discuss your emotions in order to understand the situation and consequently move on.
The feelings you are experiencing as a result of a broken heart will be intense and painful. Rid yourself of these by crying. Remember, crying is not a sign of weakness, rather it is an effective means of ridding ourselves of unwanted feelings in order to let go and move on.
Now, it’s time to start living again. Begin participating in activities you enjoy, go out with friends or do some exercise. This may seem a hard task to accomplish whilst you are experiencing the pain of a broken heart, however it is important to try and do so. Participating in activities provides an effective means of distracting yourself, in order to prevent yourself from thinking about the end of your relationship. This will help your heart heal at a much faster rate and you will soon find that you do not think about your break up, even when there is no distraction present.
It is also a good idea to plan for the future. Think about ways in which the break up has benefited you and how it has positively changed the things you will be able to accomplish in the future.
